Hi! Welcome to O Shoot Photo and Peg McCarthy Portraits.
Portrait photography documents your life story, and it’s my natural progression after 25 years as a photojournalist. My craft is to capture your face, your expressions, your emotions towards your friends and family, your lifestyle. I love my work, whether it’s in my studio north of Cobourg in the Northumberland Hills, or on location anywhere in Southern Ontario. Weddings, family events, business portraits – images say who we are and how we live our lives.
I love faces. Seeing people through my camera lens and getting to know them a little makes me happy, especially when I show them how beautiful they are.
I’ve spent the last 30 years photographing people in their homes, at their family events like weddings and milestone celebrations, in their work places for business portraits, in the street and in rural settings – as both a newspaper photojournalist and freelance photographer. In 2008, I was North American photojournalist of the year for suburban newspapers.
All my photography work is really capturing people’s portraits in one form or another, and it’s what I love to do. Now as a full-time freelance photographer, I offer both location photography across Southern Ontario shooting weddings and families, and a really fun experience in my natural light studio, located in the Northumberland Hills. My photography style is relaxed and casual, and although I do have standard poses, I like to play and experiment, and these are often my favourite images. We can use different backgrounds. The studio offers a unique adventure because it’s distilled down to simply you.
My clients often say they find the session fun. How many of us actually look forward to being photographed? Not many. But it’s not as serious as you think….. and it is actually a really nice thing to set aside one hour our of your busy life.
Have your photograph taken for yourself, for your friends and family, and for your great-children, who will get to know a bit more about themselves by looking into your face. Portrait photography documents your life story and as the years go by, reminds us of how we were. It’s very powerful, very personal, and fun.
I hope I get to shoot you.
